more interested in being than improving these days
I’ve been planning to do larger, acrylic on wood versions of some of the smaller landscapes I did earlier last year. The idea is to use the small painting as the source rather than the original photograph. Below are the first three sittings. I like where it’s headed.
This subject comes by way of my old friend Vineetha. When we met up last summer I asked her what the best place she ever traveled to was. Answer: Indonesia. After looking it up I was inspired to make a painting—I hope to go there some day.

This source photo came via my friend John, who I met at my first tech job nearly 20 years ago. He has always inspired me. I haven’t seen him since he left for Seattle soon after we met, but I follow his world travels and mountain climbing adventures on Instagram. Someday i hope to reconnect with John in person and go for a walk in the mountains.
The source photo for this was taken by my friend Clint Marsh. I met Clint at my friend Greg’s 40th birthday party after hearing about him for years. Clint is a published author and creator of Fiddler’s Green, a truly magical publication. Over the course of three days I fell in love with Clint’s peaceful disposition, humor, wit, and sincerity. I’m glad we’ve stayed in touch.
