I started making these at the tail end of 1997 and on through around 1999. The themes in this series of paintings (of which there are around 10) have run through all of my work since. These are black and white collagraph prints with mono-printed color on top. Then pencil and and paint on top of that.
When I lost access to printmaking facilities, I continued working with this imagery but pivoted to making the atmospherics that i got with collagraph via direct wiping and wiping off of ink, as shown in mid-process below.
