Soren was playing by himself on Saturday and ran out to tell me that there was a problem with Funhouse – there sure was! Turns out the left sling rubber snapped. Very strange because I put these on only a few months ago. Luckily i had a spare so i was able to put a new one on right away. While the machine was open I took the opportunity to adjust both sling switches. I have always had trouble with those switch adjustments, but when i did the Taxi i found a suggestion to do it from above. That was really helpful so I did it with Funhouse and everything rocks now. Unfortunately those leaf switches are a mess, having been poorly adjusted and bent in so many terrible ways these last 27 years. When i restore this one i’ll replace them. Also replaced the regular nuts with acorn nuts on all the plastics. It’s a small thing but looks so good.
In other news, i had some epic games of Taxi. I’m still struggling to be consistent but i’m scoring better in general, particularly with multiball. My Gorbie/Jackpot shot clunks too much. There is definitely something wrong. I think i have to shoot some video of me hitting that shot over and over to see what’s happening, it’s just too hidden and too fast for me to see. Video was how i figured out how to fix the plunger shot way back in the day – it was only under frame-by-frame evaluation that i was able to diagnose it properly.
