I’ve been playing the crap out of Shadow, and it seems like the more i play it the more i suck. I am particularly bad at hitting the scene start shot. When i have trouble with a particular shot I will usually dedicate game after game to ONLY being focused on that shot. I’ve been trying this the past few nights and i feel like i’m even worse than before. Best i’ve done in 3 balls is get through 4 scenes.
Unfortunately there are still two problems with Shadow (I fixed the kickout problem, yay!). One is that the switch coming down off the back wall of the battlefield isn’t working. Probably needs a new diode so that’s easy. Wednesday night the kicker on the battlefield stopped working. Seems likely that there is a broken wire to the coil, because when i searched the issue online that’s what i found over and over. Won’t know until i look under the battlefield (which is a pain in the ass). It’s really difficult to get the apron off and get access to the screws that hold down the battlefield. Bummed that I have to do that. The silver lining is that there’s an adjustment setting where you can disable the mini playfield so the game plays fine without these two issues working (you just don’t go up to the battlefield).
Next up I am going to get serious about fixing Space Mission. I really want to bring it to the office for a while and then sell or trade it but i have to get it working first.
After that i’m going to do a full shop job on Sinbad, including rebuilding the flippers and drop targets. I probably will not rebuild the pops as they are working just fine.
While that is going on, i’m going to get the Taxi playfield back on the rotisserie and start in on it. I’ve changed my mind again about how to deal with it. I’ve decided that all i really care about is that it’s flat, so i’m going to sand down a bit and start clearing it to level. This will take forever.
Lastly, I’ll need to get Team One working. I’ve ordered the Abracadabra manual, and i’ll be studying the schematics and start-up sequence. The idea is to get it working well as-is, then do a teardown so we can start working on the retheme stuff.
