Taxi: speaker panel and interconnect board
Disassembled the speaker panel to get it ready for replacement speakers on both sides. It’s worth it. Also pulled the interconnect board to fix the GI pins and found a really burnt area under the resistors. Going to fix that too now! Weekend update
Shifting over to painting again, taking a break from Taxi. All the metal is polished and waxed, but there are some small pieces in the tumbler that I’ll leave running through tonight. I want to test the lighting before I go any further. There’s a GI problem I need to fix and probably some sockets…

Taxi: working down the list
Checking off Taxi tasks like crazy. From here on out, the job is assembly. Pretty sure i have ALL the parts aside from a few bulbs, rubbers, and post sleeves. I’ll find more stuff i’m missing along the way but it’s so damn exciting to have the end in sight.

Taxi metals, polished up
Finished wet sanding all the steel guides for Taxi. Steps: 220 -> green scrubby -> 400 -> 600 -> 800. Some didn’t get all steps (only the worst got 220), but it’s still a lot of elbow grease. Will polish the most visible ones a bit further with Mother’s mag polish but I’m really happy…

Taxi restore: It’s all over under there
The underside of the playfield is 99% complete. All the mechs are in and wires soldered. Gonna clean and wax the playfield before completing the flipper installation. I’ve taken this machine further than any other restore so far, though I won’t be doing much to the outside of the cabinet even though it’s a bit…

Microswitch nightmares
Took me 45 minutes to reinstall two microswitches on Taxi tonight. Actually, it took me 40 minutes to install one microswitch and 5 for the other. Hopefully the other 6 go faster!

New Funhouse shooters
Replaced everything but the plates on both Funhouse shooters – the existing stuff was super gummed up and the left rod looked like a soccer ball. Now both shooters are consistent and much better aligned.

Taxi: under playfield clean-up
I’ve basically cleaned everything under the playfield but the light sockets. Ordered some parts I needed to finish the pops, and in the meantime I’ve been cleaning metal from the cabinet (grills, etc). I’ll actually be repopulating by next week! Also, I love my space.
